Media Specialist of the Year

The Media Specialist of the Year will receive a $500 award from the Board.  The Media Specialist of the Year for 2007-2008 will be announced at the meeting. 

 

Counselor of the Year

The Counselor of the Year will receive a $500 award from the Board.  The Counselor of the Year for 2007-2008 will be announced at the meeting. 

 

Rookie of the Year

Each year one new teacher is selected as the Rookie of the Year.  He/she receives a $200 award from the Board.  The Rookie of the Year for 2007-2008 will be announced at the meeting.   

 

Principal of the Year

The Principal of the Year for 2007-2008 will be announced at the meeting.  He/she will receive a $500 award from the Board. 

 

Teacher Assistant of the Year

The following individuals were selected by their schools as Teacher Assistants of the Year for 2007-2008.  Each school-level Teacher Assistant of the Year will receive $200 from the Board of Education.  In addition, the district-level Teacher Assistant of the Year will be awarded $500 from the Board.  The district Teacher Assistant of the Year for 2007-2008 will be announced at the meeting.

Teacher of the Year

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association requires local boards to grant permission to employ non-faculty individuals as head coaches of varsity or junior varsity teams.  As a general practice, the Transylvania County Board of Education approves all volunteer and contract coaches for Transylvania County Schools.  John Tinsley will request approval of the following non-faculty coaches for 2007-2008 fall sports.  Additional names may be presented at future meetings.

Temporary Construction Easement

Norris Barger will present a temporary construction easement for the City of Brevard to construct storm water collection lines behind the Morris Education Center.  The easement would be for one year from the date of the agreement.  A copy of the easement is attached.  Mr. Barger will answer any questions you may have.
